Composer Serge Bychkowski (Сергій Бичковський) from Toronto, Canada, directs a combined choir during an observance Sept. 2-5, 1977 in Chicago of the 125th anniversary of the Baptist movement in Ukraine. On the platform are Pastor Volodymyr Domashovetz (left), of the Ukrainian Baptist Church in Irvington, New Jersey, and Pastor John Polischuk (right), of the Ukrainian Baptist Church in Chicago. Rev. Domashovetz was general secretary of the All-Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Fellowship at the time, and Rev. Polischuk was assistant treasurer.
A 16-page pamphlet was printed (probably in 1951) as the 100th anniversary approached in 1952.
The 125th anniversary of the Baptist movement in Ukraine was celebrated with a special observance that was held at the Ukrainian Baptist Church of Chicago in 1977. The event was sponsored by the All-Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Fellowship.
Below: Choir director and composer Serge Bychkowski (left) was honored for decades of writing songs. He also wrote the lyrics to most of his hundreds of compositions. Rev. Harbuziuk made the presentation.
